Stephanie Kraft has been a resident of Broward County since 1976.  She attended Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia, where she graduated with degrees in both psychology and sociology.  She went on to receive her Masters and Specialist in Education degrees from the University of Florida in 1980.

Stephanie began her career as the first Family Therapist at Kids in Distress, Inc.  She then was hired as the first Case Coordinator for the Child Protection Team of Broward County, Inc., where she later became the Administrative Director.  Her experiences in testifying as an expert witness in the field of child abuse led her to law school at Nova University, where she was the Executive Editor of the Law Review and graduated fourth in her class in 1988.

After practicing law for ten years in the field of product liability and insurance defense, Stephanie decided it was time to give back to the community and ran for the School Board of Broward County in 1998.  She served as the representative for District 4 until 2010.

During her tenure on the School Board, Stephanie also served as an Adjunct Professor in the Educational Leadership Department of Florida Atlantic University, where she taught Education and the Law.   She was also member of Leadership Florida’s Class XXIV.

Stephanie and her husband Mitch, also an attorney, live in Coral Springs. Their daughter Kimberly is a 2009 graduate of Taravella High School and currently attends college in New York City.  Stephanie continues to be an active “Drama Mama” serving on the Board of the Taravella Drama Booster Club.  As empty nesters, Stephanie and Mitch enjoy their pets Louie the Labradoodle and Nikki the cat.
